Born in Devon, England in 1956, I moved to and have lived in Wales, amidst rugged nature, since 1962.

I grew up on a farm on the coast of Pembrokeshire, which gave me a great childhood. In 1970 my family moved to a small holding in the Preseli Hills where we lived and worked together over many following years. I trained as a carpenter then worked as a wood turner in our family business until I was about 30 years old.

In 1987 I started to work with heat as a solvent for wax colours. In artwork I refer to this process as "encaustic" which implies heat as a solvent being a necessary part in the creative encaustic process.

My main effort since then has been to bring a set of simple techniques to a broad market. I am no painter at heart, but I can make “painted images” through the encaustic process. If I can do this then so can just about anyone else. This has stimulated much activity around the world and across Europe helping stimulate the manifestation of several ranges of product : heated tools and coloured waxes. The artwork and ideas here are not all to do with Encaustic art. I love digital imagery because there are so many potentials for creative work and discovery this way.  At heart I am simply another human being just like you and I believe that being creative is our nature and our birthright. In a nutshell I find that I am an artist just because I am willing to be who I am. I also believe that the same is true for you and that art is not about painting, it is about being your true self.
