... And then one day, well I couldn’t believe it really, but one day it just stopped. There simply wasn’t enough wet stuff in the river, so it stopped.

Now, that didn’t happen often, in fact I’d never witnessed it myself before, But it was plain enough for all to see. No waterfall.

There was still some water there, and it was still moving, but it slid down the channel close to the ground, not strong enough, no longer powerful enough to reach the point of departure, the point where it tumbled joyously off the edge of the earth and leapt out and down towards itself again. I say “itself” because it was only mingling with the air, each sharing their surfaces with the other, not changing entirely, but just exchanging energy together in a white noise cascade of excited molecules, each leaving its taste, its essence for the other to enjoy. That was some day, I’ll tell you. They said something about global warning, but I don’t know much about that you see ......

The AZTEC civilization had a water god named Tlalloc. A story about him inspired the digital image above that I called Angel of Fire & Water. Tlalloc stands on the ninth level of the worlds, pouring water out from his two palms, keeping our planet flowing with fresh life.
